In a world overflowing with information, choices, and countless external influences, discernment is our sacred tool, a flashlight that guides us through the labyrinth of life with clarity, wisdom, and unwavering purpose.
Discernment is far more than the simple ability to distinguish between “right and wrong”. It is our innate and profound spiritual intelligence. It is a blend of emotional intelligence and inner knowing that transcends perceptions, biases and ideas. This subtle and quiet awareness allows us to uncover the truth beneath the noise and chaos of daily life. At its core, discernment is the art of listening to the whispers of our inner heart and the divine guidance that speaks to us from within and without.
Every moment of our lives is filled with choices. Some are small and seemingly inconsequential, while others have the potential to alter the trajectory of our existence, shaping our destiny in ways we may not immediately comprehend. Discernment serves as our inner compass, pointing us toward what aligns most deeply with our higher purpose and true essence.
The voice of discernment can be powerful, ringing out with clarity and urgency. Still, it can also be gentle, a subtle nudge that is easily overlooked amidst the world's noise. This is why it is so vital to cultivate the practice of going within and doing inner work with honesty and consistency. The voice of discernment often whispers, or at times shouts, essential questions that guide us:
Is this path rooted in love or fear?
Does this choice align with my highest values and soul’s purpose?
Is this guidance a reflection of divine wisdom or simply the echo of external noise?
When we cultivate discernment, we create the space to pause, reflect, and respond intentionally rather than reacting impulsively to life’s demands. This practice invites a sense of peace, calm, and clarity into our lives, allowing us to move through challenges with grace and confidence.
Discernment does not judge with condemnation but observes with compassion and seeks a deeper truth. It is not simply about making evaluations; it is a process of understanding, growing, and evolving. True discernment calls us to be both seekers of truth and vessels of love, holding space for ourselves and others to learn and transform.
This sacred skill flourishes when we embrace stillness and connection. Practices like meditation, prayer, journaling, and deep self-reflection, or movements like dancing, yoga, and rituals enable us to attune to the quiet, steady voice within. It’s that voice often drowned out by the constant noise of the external world. But through these practices, we tap into the wisdom of our higher self and the divine presence that guides us always.
There is an immutable and always still space within. It is the core, the essence of who we are. By practising inner work (in any way that works for us), we can reach the space where inner wisdom and knowing reside and where the voice of discernment speaks our truth.
Discernment is more than a tool; it is a Divine Gift. It allows us to navigate the complexities of life authentically, aligning our actions with our soul’s purpose and our heart’s truth. It empowers us to live as leaders and guides in a world clouded by uncertainty, inspiring others to find their inner guidance and strength.
As we cultivate this sacred gift, we transform our own lives and create a ripple effect of love, integrity, and truth in the world. Discernment equips us to make choices that resonate with the twelve essences of the Heart but also with that deep voice that comes from a space that we often try to hide because it feels scary and unwelcome, but that has a lot to say. Discernment is not just about love and light. Discernment also comes from Grace and Truth, and that space we may see as dark, but that has so much wisdom and power and so much to teach us.
Discernment is a sacred compass. It is a constant reminder of our connection to the Divine and our purpose here on Earth. Trust it. Honour it. Follow its guidance, and it will always lead you back to the truth, love, and home.
